What Is Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops. It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, AOL and Ask Jeeves. Search engines keep their methods and ranking algorithms secret, to get credit for finding the most valuable search-results and to deter spam pages from clogging those results. A search engine may use hundreds of factors while ranking the listings where the factors themselves and the weight each carries may change continually. Algorithms can differ so widely that a webpage that ranks #1 in a particular search engine could rank #200 in another search engine. New sites need not be “submitted” to search engines to be listed. A simple link from a well established site will get the search engines to visit the new site and begin to spider its contents. It can take a few days to even weeks from the referring of a link from such an established site for all the main search engine spiders to commence visiting and indexing the new site.

If you are unable to research and choose keywords and work on your own search engine ranking, you may want to hire someone to work with you on these issues.

Search engine marketing and promotion companies, will look at the plan for your site and make recommendations to increase your search engine ranking and website traffic. If you wish, they will also provide ongoing consultation and reporting to monitor your website and make recommendations for editing and improvements to keep your site traffic flow and your search engine ranking high. Normally your search engine optimization experts work with your web designer to build an integrated plan right away so that all aspects of design are considered at the same time.

Paid Blogging Networks- How Do They Work?

Social media linking is a very effective technique for acquiring quality one way links. With the advent of numerous social networking websites, social bookmarking sites, blogs, forums, etc., social media linking has become one of the most important aspect of Search Engine Optimization.

Since then, blogging has become one of the easiest ways of making money online. In this article, we will have a look at how the paid blogging networks actually work?

Whenever, you open a blog networking site, the first thing that you will always notice on the home page is ‘Advertiser’ and ‘Bloggers’ or ‘Publishers’. An advertiser is the one who wants to setup an advertisement for his products and services and a blogger is the one who writes the blogs for the advertiser and gets paid for it. The advertiser pays the fees to the blog networking site and the site gives a stipulated fee to the blogger or publisher.

For being an advertiser or a blogger you need to register to the website with all the valid details about you, your company (for an advertiser), payment details (like the Pay Pal account), etc.

What advertisers need to do?
An advertiser is the one who wants to promote his products or services. He has to setup an ad campaign, specify all his requirements and the goals that are to be established. He also provides the necessary links, images that should be included in the review. This is the same as to create a job opportunity and post it. The bloggers who are interested in it apply for it.

What bloggers need to do?
A blogger is the one who writes the blog for the advertiser. Whenever, he sees an opportunity put up by an advertiser, he analyses it, judges it according to his topic of interests and then decides whether he can write a blog on it or not. Once he accepts the opportunity, he has to complete it within a specific period of time. After submitting, it is manually reviewed by the experts of the networking sites and then accordingly, approved (if appropriate .i.e. does it follow the guidelines, does it match the advertisers requirements, his goals, etc.) or rejected. It takes typically 3-5 weeks to review a post. If all this is satisfied, then the blog is posted on the website and the blogger is given the fee as per decided.

In short, an advertiser hires a blogger for writing a review about what he wants to promote. The networking site just acts as a medium between the advertisers and the bloggers. If the advertiser does not like the work done by the blogger, he can bring it to the notice of the networking sites and stop the payment. Then, the networking sites can review the post and take necessary actions. The money earned by bloggers ranges from $5 to $2500 or more, depending upon the quality and content of the blog.

Hence, blog posts and reviews classify as a very effective link building technique in order to generate high quality one way links.

The author is an expert at Social Media Link Building techniques and provides effective link building services at LinkCredible,”>http://www.linkcredible.com/link-building-services.php”>LinkCredible, Inc.

Blog Promotion via RSS Directory Submission

According to Technorati, there are over 15 million blogs as of July 2005. And during July, an average of 80,000 new blogs were created each day. If you own a blog, how are you going to promote it in order to stay ahead of the competition?

Fortunately, there is a simple, yet very effective method: RSS directory submission. Submitting your RSS newsfeed to specialized news directories benefits your site in several ways.

RSS directory submission increases your readership. When a person is looking for newsfeeds to add to their RSS reader, it is highly likely they will visit an RSS directory to find newsfeeds on their subject of interest. I recently visited a directory looking for personal business blogs. I subscribed to several, and now read them via RSS on a regular basis. Someone else may have an excellent business blog, but since they weren’t listed in the directory, I was unable to discover their site.

RSS directory submission enables your content to be duplicated and linked to from other sites. One of the key benefits of syndicating content through RSS is that it increases your reach. You can publish an article, then have excerpts of that article placed on hundreds of other websites – with links back to the original on your site. Many webmasters want to have fresh content for their visitors, and embedding an RSS newsfeed is the easiest way to do that. You’ll want to make sure that you are listed in RSS directories when a webmaster visits looking for website content – or your competitors may get the free promotion!

RSS directory submission provides immediate link popularity. RSS directories are similar to other web directories – you get a free, one-way link back to your site when you are listed. Think about this. Most RSS directories carry a pagerank (PR) of 5 or higher. When you multiply that over 50 RSS directories, that is a lot of links back to your site – meaning increased search engine rank and more visitors.

There are several ways you can submit your RSS newsfeed to directories. The first, obviously, is by hand. You can get a list of the directories (http://www.rss- software.net/rss-directories.php), then go to each website and add your feed manually. Since there are many RSS directories, this can take quite a while. To save the webmaster time, two ways of automated directory submission exist.

The first one is RSS Submit (http://www.dummysoftware.com/rsssubmit.html), a program that automates the directory submission process. All you have to do is open the software, enter the URL for your feed, and RSS Submit will instantly send the feed information to approximately 40 directories. You can also manually submit your site to another 25 directories using RSS Submit’s auto-fill function.

The second method is appropriately named: RSS Directory Submission Service (http: //www.rssdirectorysubmission.com). This service is similar to RSS Submit – you give them your feed URL, and they submit it to over 50 directories. The difference between the two is price: while RSS Submit costs $44.95 for a personal, non- commercial license. RSS Directory Submission Service charges $8.95 per feed submission. And since sites usually only have one feed, the RSS Directory Submission Service is more economical for most RSS publishers.

Regardless of the RSS directory submission method you choose, make sure to do it! You will find the effort small compared to the benefits you receive.

Search Engine Marketing With Blogs

Blogs become the SEO tool of choice by many webmasters very fast.

Why?

The answer is simple: Content. Search engines love content. The more content your blog can provide on a steady basis, the better your ability to increase traffic. Blogs are easy to start and anyone can for more effective SEO management.

Which content can you place in your blog?

You can place any useful information, ideas, thoughts or articles about your product or service. Let the readers know you have something more to offer then just a simple service. People who feel comfortable about a blog owner/author are far more likely to buy from him/her. Let your readers know who you are and what you are capable of doing for them.

Now that you have your content, you need to get it into the reader’s hands.

The advantage of using a blog is that you can syndicate your content. Rich Site Summary or RSS is a format used to syndicate your content instantly. In other words, people can have your content posted on their web site or sent to their email. Most blog sites will give you your own special URL to submit to sites that syndicate content. These sites will then contact your URL for the content. The more you update your site the more your site will be indexed or PINGED by RSS feeds. To help ensure your RSS feed is being indexed, enter the RSS tag into the of your site. Just enter your site title and the URL with your special URL for RSS. This and other tags can be used in most blogs. Take advantage of them. I strongly recommend to use WordPress,
which offers a lot of features and plugins and installs RSS feed for you automatically.

To create a blog will allow your content to be syndicated which in turn will increase traffic to your web site as well as build your link popularity through RSS and blog directories.

This will give you and your products or services recognition. The knowledge and personal insights that you share will help build your business and your customer relations. The RSS feeds, blog directories and social bookmarking sites will also help build your page rank on the search engines. Blogs have all the ingredients to be one of the best free advertising tools the Internet has to offer.

Start through !

I wish you much success and all the best, also good luck on all your ways

How to do Search Engine Optimization for a blog?

Blogging software is really a simple Content Management System (CMS) that easily adds new pages and integrates them into your site’s navigational structure and linkage – I highly recommend to use WordPress.

Blogs and blog posts are naturally search engine friendly because they are text-rich, link-rich, frequently-updated webpages that use stylesheets or CSS, and have very little extraneous HTML.

To optimizing a blog is in the most cases very easy to do, it only depends on the blogging service or software you use, the results may look somewhat different.

If you follow some simple rules for search engine optimization (SEO), your blog can rank much higher than any static website page – Google likes blogs and frequently updated fresh content.

Here are the most important rules to follow to get your posts listed for keywords of your choice.

Use your primary keyword in your blog domain

Whether you purchase a separate domain for your blog, or host it on a blogging service or a subdomain of your own site, try to ensure that your URL contains the primary keyword you want to optimize for.

For example, if you want your blog to get found for the keyword “pay check” get a domain with the keyword “pay check”.

To get a domain name with your own name might make for good branding, especially if your blog is a personal blog.

But if you may create it for business and want the targeted traffic, keywords in the domain nam are the move in the right direction.

Use your primary key phrase in your blog header tags and the title of your posts

If your primary key phrase is “business blogging” make sure that the word business, or blogging, or both, appear in your blog headers (the H1 or H2 tags) as well as the title of each of your posts.

Most blogging software will take the keywords in your post title and put them into the file name of the permalink posts it creates.

With software like WordPress  you may require the mod_rewrite command to save the title of your entries as a permalink.

Use your secondary keywords in the body of your post

If you want to get listed for secondary keywords use them infrequently in the body of your post and pepper your blog titles or links with them appropriately.

Don’t overdo this or your posts will end up sounding unnatural and spammy to readers.

Use your keywords in the anchor text of links

Keywords in links have more importance than simple text.

Use your primary and secondary keywords in the anchor text of links when linking to other blog posts or to other pages on your main site.

Link keywords where they naturally appear in the body text, but again, don’t overdo it, or you’ll end up with spammy looking pages.

Make sure search engines can spider your blog easily

Set up your blog so that the side navigation bar is present on all your pages.

Make sure your archives and previous posts are accessible from all pages of your blog so they get spidered easily.

Get backlinks from other blogs or websites

Links pointing to your blog or posts are essential to build pagerank and make your blog rank higher in the search engine listings, but have a look that your links are relevant to your blog content.

I recommend that you focus your linking efforts on the methods here:

Submit your blog to Blog Search Engines and Directories:

Submitting your blog and RSS feed to blog search engines and directories is essential for getting high-quality links back to your blog.

Trackbacks
:

You can also get links back to your blog using trackbacks. One of the disadvantages of using Blogger is that it does not automatically create trackback urls that others can use to link back to your posts.

But if trackbacks are an important component of your linking strategy, I would advise using another software or system that adds this feature automatically.

Comments:

You can also get back links to your blog by posting legitimate comments in response to posts on other blogs, but take care to post on blogs with same relevant theme as your own blog!

Update your blog content frequently

There’s no better “food” for search engine spiders than fresh content.

Post and update your blog frequently using all the rules outlined above and there’s no reason why your blog will not get you top rankings in a short period of time.

Stay put

Once you create your blog, try to stick to the same domain and blog host or system for as long as you continue to publish.

You could end up losing a lot of your traffic, your readers and all your search engine listings if you decide to move.

I wish you all the best and good luck on all your ways

Tips around the term: Blog

What are Blogs?

You have heard the term previously but you have not paid much attention? A lot of people are just to afraid to show their ignorance and ask the question, what is a blog?
Lets face it: the term blog does not conjure pleasant images.

Blogs are web logs that are updated regularly, usually on a daily basis. They contain information related to a specific topic. In some cases blogs are used as daily diaries about people’s personal lives, political views, or even as social commentaries. The truth of the matter is that blogs can be shaped into whatever you, the author, want them to be.

Where did Blogs come from?

The roots of blogging can be traced back to the mid 1990′s. Who the very first blogger actually was is unclear, as the art of blogging did not really take hold until 1999. The original “weblogs” were link-driven sites with personal commentaries. The very first blogs were human guided Internet web tours. While initially thought of as diaries or online journals, blogs have evolved into the latest fresh web content.

About the Future of Blogs

A buzz word in techie circles, “blogging” is the wave of the future. Whether its a fad, or proves to be a new way to communicate with existing and potential customers it deserves at the very least a cursory look.

Why is Blogging Helpful to Businesses or Individuals?

Just as animated .gifs were once cool, blogging is the trendy thing to do. That does not mean that it is not beneficial to businesses. Webmasters struggling to keep fresh, attractive content on their websites to lure visitors back, have found blogs the answer. Content is a necessity for online businesses, both for purposes of being found by search engines but also because it gives visitors a reason to come back.

Professional business blogs allow you the opportunity to tell potential, or existing customers industry news, updates, or generally for example how a special software can be used in specific situations to alleviate problems. The bottom line is to control the content. Daily updates increases the chances that search engines will spider on a regular basis and it helps with page rank.

Blog & Business

The bottom line is you need to determine how a blog will benefit your business, determine a schedule and adhere to it. Let your readers know what to expect and when to expect it. Blogs provide great supplemental content and direct attention to areas of your business that you want to showcase; you direct the content but let your readers guide you.

How to creat a Blog?

There are lots of online tools that can be used to create a blog. I strongly recommend to use WordPress if you plan to create and run a blog.

Further Advantages to Blogs

While you may initially create a blog for your existing customers, you may find that you can attract new customers by illustrating your expertise in a specific field. There are lots of websites that act as “blog search engines”, be sure to submit your sites to these websites to increase your exposure. This will also help with your page rank.

Another way is to create an RSS feed in order to syndicate blog content and gain additional exposure.

The Top 10 Places to find the Most Popular Blogs

The easiest way to get information about the conventions of the blog format is to start reading BLOGS.

The more blogs you read, the more you will get a feeling for what is the goal and what they have to offer.

Here are a few sources:

Blog Monitors

- Blogged (http://www.blogged.com)
- BlogCatalog (http://www.blogcatalog.com)
- Technorati (http://technorati.com/)

This sites monitor millions of blogs every minute of every day, searching for the top key words being mentioned in blog posts or in the most popular links and sites. It’s like being in a huge convention hall eavesdropping on billions of conversations at the same time.

This is a fantastic way to do market research and to see what everybody is buzzing about. The collective ‘hive’ of blogs is often called the blogosphere.

Blog Search Engines and Directories

- Blogarama (http://blogarama.com/)
- Globe of Blogs (http://globeofblogs.com/)
- The Open Directory (http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Weblogs/)

Just like web sites, there are also directories and search engines devoted to cataloging the ever-growing global network of blogs. Try searching by topic or geographic location.

Search Engines

- Google (http://google.com/)
- MSN (http://www.msn.com)
- Yahoo! (http://yahoo.com/)

These are the more traditional and most known search engines. Type in some topic and the word ‘blogs’ and see what results come up. The more specific keywords, the more likely you are to find bloggers talking about what you’re interested in.

Blogrolls

Number ten are the blogrolls.

The most blogs have a blogroll, which is a list of a blogger’s favorite blogs and websites. If you find a blog you like, try checking out the other sites that the blogger likes. You might find other valuable sites and blogs to read. The more your read blogs, the more you’ll catch the nuances and conventions that have made them the fastest, easiest, cheapest way to publish online.

10 important Tips for Blogging

First of all: MERRY CHRISTMAS

The last days I have thought back to the beginning of this year, when I`ve had the first thoughts about blogging and how I started “through”.

To give beginners and newbies a concrete help I have fixed some tips here:

Tips for creating a blog.
There are no hard and fast rules on how to blog. Bloggers will likely increase their exposure by following some simple blog guidelines.

1.) Stay on topic.
Your opinions are generally accepted, but the content of the items in the blog should all relate to a general theme. The majority of your readers will be interested in the content that relates to a specific defined theme or a defined area of interest. The most readers may not know what you eat for breakfast (only if you run a cooking blog and write good receipes).  Define a topic and stay to it. This will ensure that you create a loyal following of interested readers.

2.) Stay informative.
If you are attempting to create the impression that you are knowledgeable about a specific industry or sector, be sure that you stay current on news.

If you are endorsing a product or voicing an opinion, be sure to check your facts; your reputation is at stake.

If you are offering an opinion, be sure to qualify your post, making it clear that the content is intended as an editorial.

3.) Old news is not news.
For reason to blog every day it is important that the information you present is current and accurate!

To write an article about something that happened long ago, will not be the interest of many people.

4.) Adhere to a schedule.
Create a schedule and stick to it. Realizing that blogging requires time and effort, don’t create unrealistic expectations and be unable to deliver. An occasional lapse or holiday is generally understood but readers returning to find stale, out-dated content are going to find another blog with similar content. New blogs and RSS feeds are popping up on a daily basis. If you have worked hard to develop an audience and a community you don’t want to lose them due to lack of communication.

5.) Clarity and simplicity.
Keep your posts and blog entries clear and easy to understand. Remember, the web is global and expressions, idioms and acronyms don’t always translate. In some cases a little explanation goes a long way.

6.) Write Keyword-rich and use Keyword-rich post titles.
If the goal of your blog is to increase your visibility, include related keywords in the title of the blog. Use the title as a headline to attract interest. Each item post should have a title that will attract attention but still be relevant to the post. Keep in mind: the title should not be longer than 10-12 words.

7.) Quantity matters.
In order to attract the attention of search engines, like Google, Yahoo or MSN, you will need to develop content and substance.

A headline or simple sentence is not going to generate the interest of readers or help with search engine ranking. Be sure to archive old blog posts to develop a large portal of similarly-themed content and use also categories.

8.) Frequency.
If your blog content is updated frequently, search engines will tend to spider the pages at regular intervals.

9.) Spell checking and proof-reading.
It only takes a few minutes and can save you from having to make embarrassing explanations. Remember that whatever you publish on the Internet can be found and archived. Think carefully about what you post before doing so.

10.) RSS.
RSS will increase your blog’s reach. It is important that you include your blog’s content in an RSS feed to increase readership and distribution.

Most weblog audiences are small, but with time and regular updates audiences grow. Bloggers may never have more than a few hundred readers, but the people who return to regularly are generally interested in what you have to say.
